What is philosophy? Before beginning any meaningful discussions we must first gain a general understanding of what philosophy means and how great an impact it has on every aspect of our life.
Definitions of Philosophy on the Web:
- doctrine: a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school
the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics
- any personal belief about how to live or how to deal with a situation; “self-indulgence was his only philosophy”; “my father’s philosophy of child-rearing was to let mother do it”
Everyone practices philosophy, the problem is not many people do it well. From the time our parents started teaching us the difference between right and wrong right up to the very moment you are reading this blog you have been influenced by other peoples philosophy. When ever you turn on the TV you are bombarded by organization and individuals trying to get you to adopt their philosophy. In fact, if you were to place an alarm on you television set which would go off every time a philosophical message was being presented, the alarm would be sounding continuously from the time you turned it on until the time you turned it off.
Your family, friends, teachers, professors, radio, television, movies, books you have read and your personal life experiences have all contributed to your philosophy of life and allowed you to create your own personal “Worldview.” On a daily basis you use this “Worldview” to make every decision about what you do.
This blog will be dedicated to sharing sharing my philosophy in several important areas of life that I have personally studied and had some degree of success with. More importantly it will give our readers a chance to engage in some intelligent debate and positive input that all can benefit from including myself. It is my sincere hope that all my readers can gain some information from this blog that might help in some area of their life and that they in turn can share that helpful information with others.
